Helping Families Navigate Life

Lenita M. AuBuchon focuses her legal practice in the area of estate planning with an emphasis on Elder Law issues. For over 30 years, her passion has been to assist individuals and families in developing a comprehensive estate plan using sound legal counsel that ensures peace of mind. Lenita has been helping her clients for so long that she is now trusted with representing the next generation of her clients’ families with their estate plans and other legal issues. Her clients see her as not only an advocate, but as a key component of helping them navigate what lies ahead. This is why it is so important to her to build a relationship with her clients.

Lenita has extensive experience with drafting trusts, including special needs trusts, and overseeing the funding process. She understands that each person’s family situation is unique and provides her clients with personalized service by counseling and communicating with them throughout the entire process. Lenita likes to take the time to get to know her client’s family dynamics to help draft the most advantageous estate plan for each individual client.

Part of her commitment to her clients is to provide them with peace of mind and to make sure they understand whatever it is they need to deal with whether it is signing advanced directives, or planning for a loved one going to a nursing home. Lenita likes to make her time with her perspective clients comfortable and convenient. That is why you will often find her at someone’s kitchen table instead of in a conference room.

Lenita also provides guidance to her clients, who need to take care of their loved one’s affairs. To this end, she handles guardianships, Medicaid planning, probate proceedings, and estate and trust administrations. She collaborates with other professionals such as geriatric care managers, social workers, accountants, and financial planners.

Lenita is committed to educating the senior community. In 2021, she was appointed as the chair of the Elder Law Section of the DuPage County Bar Association. This committee allows educational opportunities to other legal professionals on the important aspects of Elder Law. She also frequently speaks to local professional and community groups on various senior issues.

Lenita loves to spend time with her family, having game nights with her cousins, gardening, and walking her daughter’s two rescue lab pups, Thelma and Louise. Both are very sweet but still so naughty.
